characteristics

Both leaves and stems of this perennial are hairy. Hooded, pale-purple flowers, with white spots, are arranged in whorls around the stem. Leaf and flower size gradually decrease upward. Fruit is a dark brown nutlet. Rhizomatous: often forms colonies. Self seeds readily. Will grow through thick thatch.
