characteristics

Erect with rosettes of leaves. Fragrant bright yellow flowers (lasting a day or two) are partially to fully closed in daytime then open in the evening. May become weedy and invasive.

habitat

Fields, roadsides, rail roads (including in the tracks), and waste areas.

uses

Goldfinch and many other birds eat the seeds. Pollinated by night flying hawk moths.

Grown commercially for its oil which is rich in fatty acids.
